Should I schedule a practice run?
Just as you plan a rehearsal of the ceremony before the big day, you should also plan for a practice run of your bridal hair style and makeup. This allows you and our stylists the chance to work out all of the details together long BEFORE your wedding day arrives. You’ll get to see exactly how your hair and makeup will look, and then if any adjustments need to be made, we can fine tune everything in advance. We suggest scheduling your trial run at least 2 to 3 months before your wedding day. This is one of the BEST ways to reduce stress on your wedding day as you’ll already know what to expect when you arrive at the salon to get styled.
What should I bring to my initial hair consultation?
Your first wedding hair consultation is very important. This is when our staff will begin to plan a creative, personal, and customized plan just for you. Our bridal stylists will want to completely understand your personal preferences, the style that you lean toward, and the theme of your wedding. It’s a great idea to bring photos or magazine pages that you have collected that show different bridal hair styles that you like. If you are planning to wear a veil, tiara, or other decorative headbands or hair accessories, you can bring these to your appointment, too, so that we can discuss which styles will allow them to be featured best.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Zip-up or button up shirts are the way to go! Pull over type shirts will end up wrecking your beautiful hair when you remove them, so for obvious reasons, avoid wearing collared shirts, hoodies, or turtlenecks on both your trial run and actual wedding day appointments.
Do I need to schedule a trial run for my makeup as well?
Yes! Scheduling an initial consultation and a trial run for your bridal makeup is just as important as scheduling a practice run for your hair. If possible, you can try to schedule both your makeup trial and your hair trial on the same day so that you can get an idea of how your complete bridal style will look.
Should I wash my hair before my wedding hair appointment?
Some wedding styles actually work better with hair that is not super squeaky clean. If your hair is normal to dry (and not oily), and if your preferred wedding hairstyle is an updo, then you can wash your hair the night before your wedding day. This will allow your hair to conform more easily to the style. If you are going for long lengthy layers, you may be able to shampoo your hair on the morning of the wedding instead of the evening before. Any redness or minor irritation will have completely subsided by the time the big day arrives. If you are planning to get an airbrush tan, schedule any waxing appointments before tanning appointments to prevent your tan from being accidentally removed by the waxing procedure.
